Short Bio

Shujoy holds a Phd in Design (summa cum laude) from Politecnico Di Milano- Italy. His research interests lie at the intersection of human centred design and interaction design. His teaching and research investigates the application of these areas to designing electronic appliances and solid+virtual interfaces.

Currently within University of Madeira (UMa) Design Course he is the scientific coordinator of the Interaction Design (IxD) and Design de meios interativos (DMI) subject areas. He is also an Adjunct Faculty to the National Institute of Design (NID) India.

Previously he has 2 years experience with Politecnico Di Milano as a Research Fellow funded by th Italian Ministry for Universities and Research (MIUR) and 3 years experience with Whirlpool Europe (Italy) in global product development, global consumer design, design research and innovation.

His industry experience emerges from the European home appliances industry. Next Generation Appliances such as the Greenkitchen 2.0 ( and Ixelium Cooktop that he has worked on in design and engineering with Whirlpool Europe have been showcased in the Future Technologies for Kitchens exhibition in EuroCucina - Milan Design Week 2010, winning design and innovation awards such as the IF Gold Product Design Award 2012  (

Shujoy has lectured in globally recognised Design Schools such as: Poli.Design- Politecnico Di Milano, Domus Academy- Milan, HOWEST (IDC)- University of West FLanders- Kortrijk, IDC-Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)- Mumbai, National Institute of Design- India, DoD-Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)- Guwahati.
