A group of M-ITI researchers and students is visiting the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin), in the US.
From November 4-13, this group of 12 researchers and students will meet faculty, participate in classes, attend or give lectures, and explore future research opportunities at UT Austin. This allows strengthening the partnership with UT Austin, through the establishment of long-term collaborative and sustainable research.
One of the most important moments of the visit is the “Art and Interactivity: Exploring Research Opportunities with Madeira” event, on November 10. This event will tackle important topics to Madeira, such as health, sustainable tourism, digital art and storytelling. Program and other details of the event are available here.
The visit falls within the scope of the Digital Media R&D partnership “UT Austin|Madeira”, between M-ITI and UT Austin. This partnership was made official earlier this year with the UT Austin’s Technology and Information Policy Institute (TIPI). A goal of this partnership is to facilitate and finance exploratory visits of students to Austin, the exchange of researchers and faculty, as well as other Digital Media related events.
The UT Austin|Madeira partnership is supported by Madeira1420 program, and fulfils a strategic priority to foster international partnerships for excellence in R&D. It builds on an academic partnership developed through the Digital Media doctorate program, on which M-ITI cooperates with UT Austin since 2015. M-ITI is supporting applications to the PhD in Digital Media (academic year of 2017/2018), expected to be open between May and August 2017. Interested applicants should contact M-ITI academic services, for any question or assistance with applications.
