Daniel Freitas was born in Madeira but he’s been living in Lisbon for the last 15 years. He has a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a specialization in Telecommunications, from the Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa. In January 2002, he started working for Portugal Telecom. He has worked in three different areas of the company. Although Daniel’s work has been very fulfilling, he wants to experience other areas and treasures the challenge of experiencing different realities. From the very first moment Daniel discovered the HCI Master’s program, he felt that it was tailor-made for him. Firstly, his academic background is in Electrical and Computer Engineering and his professional experience has focused on Project Management. Secondly, Daniel has always been particularly interested in Design and Psychology. This Master’s degree will provide him with an opportunity to learn more about these subjects and their application to the relationship between humans and machines. In fact, it was precisely the HCI interdisciplinary approach to these three subjects that attracted him the most to this program. An additional motivation is the opportunity to study during one semester in the USA, to experience the American Educational System, and to meet people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
